Diversity and freedom of speech

2

Divide the class into three groups

Divide the class in three groups. Each group shall go into depth and explore different cultural expressions within American majorities, minorities and native people.

3

Share responsibility within the groups

Agree on which ethnic groups you want to investigate internally based on the group you are in. E.g. If you are focusing on minorities, you can choose which group to focus on or examples jews, romani people etc.

4

Explore characteristics with the ethnic groups

Use sources in a critical and useful way to find information about the ethnic group you are exploring. What are typical characteristics when it comes to cultural expressions, identity and way of living? Remember to keep a good overview of the sources you are using.

5

Visualize cultural expressions in Ludenso Create

Based on the information you have found, visualize something you find typical of the cultural identity you have been investigating. Explain your choice. If you are creating something that already exists, you need to present the source you are using to avoid plagiarism.

7

Experience the diversity in AR

Present the different 3D models in a common Ludenso gallery. Each student presents their model, what ethnic group they are presenting, and describes the cultural characteristics of the group.

8

Discuss similarities and differences

Based on everything you have learnt from the AR presentations, what similarities and differences in cultural expressions, identity and way of living do you see within the majorities, minorities and the native people?

9

Preventive actions against racism

Based on the discussion and the preparations, what causes do you see for the existence of racism today? Discuss what actions can help prevent racism, discrimination, and hateful speech. What does this mean for freedom of speech? What are the limits around freedom of speech?

Congratulations!
